I haven’t quite decided how I’m going to document my sewing yet, so bear with me on this. For this specific post, I think I’ll put up a bunch of pictures of the steps I took to get to the finished product. If you have any suggestions on how I should change it up, or have any specific questions on techniques, etc, let me know!
Here’s the project I did today!
- The pattern and material I chose
- Pin the dress and lining pieces. Sometimes I also use a white material for the lining. In this case, I used the same flower material for the outside and the lining
- Pin flounce pieces
- Cut lining and dress pieces
- Cut flounce pieces
- Sew shoulder tops on both dress and lining
- Dress and lining
- Pin dress to lining, inside out
- Sew the neck and arm holes. I have learned that it is very important to sew these perfectly. Imperfections really show and make the dress look weird
- Turn the lining out through the arm holes, and this is what you get.
- Zipper!
- Sew both flounces
- Fold, press, and sew hems on flounces
- Flounces with finished hems
- Sew top flounce to bottom flounce
- Finished flounces
- Sew the flounces to the bottom of the dress
- The finished product
- My adorable little model
I think my next blog will be for panties! I like all of her dress to have matching little panties (Because a diaper hanging out tends to ruin a whole look!) Anyways, I have a whole stack of panties that need to be made! Stay tuned….
